Arts At The Abbey Presents An Evening With Italian Musician Matteo Bevilacqua
January 5th, 2012The concert is free to the public.
Arts at the Abbey is pleased to start 2012 off with a performance by Italian musician, Matteo Bevilacqua, on Monday, January 23 at 8:00 p.m. in the Abbey Basilica. Bevilacqua will perform original music by 18th c. Italian composers Emmanuele Barbella, Pietro Morandi and Ludwig van Beethoven. The concert is free to the public, but donations are gladly accepted.

More About Matteo Bevilacqua: Bevilacqua graduated from the Cesare Pollino Conservatory of Music, Padova in Italy, becoming among the first in the country and in the region of Puglia, where he currently resides, to acquire the degree. He also graduated with honors in violin from the Umberto Giordano Conservatory of Music, Fiogga in Italy and was named the Conservatory’s best student.
In 2000, Bevilacqua was appointed Ministerial Commissioner for teaching mandolin in the Conservatory. He also taught violin at the conservatories of Vibo Valentia and Benevento.
Bevilacqua has won numerous violin competitions, and has recorded for the Milan label IKTIUS CD “Amarcord,” which is distributed by IRD (Important Record Distribution) in New York. He has performed over 100 concerts throughout Italy and in the Czech Republic, where he performed “10 Preludes for Solo Mandolin” by Raffaele Calace.
He is the founder and mandolin soloist of the quartet “900 Napoletano,” which offers the golden age of Neapolitan song. And, currently he holds the violin position at the U. Giordano Conservatory of Music, Fiogga.
