More About Carolina Pro Musica: Carolina Pro Musica was established in 1977 to promote music before 1800 with historic instrument copies and in the performance style of the periods. Since that time they have maintained a concert series in Charlotte, performing music from medieval times through the twentieth century. The ensemble has received grants from state and local arts councils in the Carolinas and the National Endowment for the Arts. Carolina Pro Musica has performed the American premieres of cantatas by J.A. Hasse, the rediscovered “Gloria” by Handel and a commissioned work by American composer Margaret V. Sandresky. The ensemble has toured abroad, traveling to Poland and London, where they performed at Handel’s House. They have been artists-in-residence at Belmont Abbey College since 2002.
