“Got 5K?”
November 3rd, 2009Come join us for the “Got Monks?” 5K and One-Mile Fun Run.
Join us on the campus of Belmont Abbey College for the the Got Monks? 5K and Fun Run on Saturday, November 14.
Beginning at 8:30 a.m., The Got Monks? 5K Off-Road Race will be contested on the beautiful tree-lined Brother Paul Trail. One of the most picturesque running landmarks in the southeast, the Brother Paul Trail is challenging, but suitable for all types of running abilities. Its dirt path features gently rolling hills and bending curves, all shaded by a gorgeous forest of pine trees. In April 2002, it was named after longtime Belmont Abbey College Cross Country Coach, Brother Paul Shanley, O.S.B.
At 8:40 a.m., the One-Mile Fun Run will begin at the Wheeler Center, the College’s athletic facility. Participants can run or walk a one-mile loop around the Abbey’s historic college campus. The Fun Run is free and is open to all ages. No reservations are required to participate. Small prizes will be offered for the top three finishers. Got Monks? t-shirts and baseball caps will be available for purchase.
All proceeds from the Got Monks? 5K will go to the Belmont Abbey College’s Abbey Family Fund and to Street Soccer 945. The Abbey Family Fund is an unrestricted operating fund for the College, providing scholarships to deserving students and to updating and preserving this beautiful, historical campus. Street Soccer 945, organized by Urban Ministry Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, is an interfaith organization serving the homeless and impoverished with love, compassion, and tangible aid.
